THE PROBLEM SOLVING CYCLE

To begin then, we have to accept a basic fact, that all scientist and inventors have an intuitive understanding of the Problem Solving Process. This process involves a six steps program which must be worked through and explored on each and every project. The steps are:

1 - Identifying & Selecting a Problem

(what do we want to change?)

The Problem Statement.

2 – Analyzing the Problem

(what’s in the way?)

Key Causes

3 – Generating Potential Solutions

(how do we make the change?)

List Solutions

4 – Selecting & Planning a Solution

(what’s the best way to do it?)

Plan for Making Change

5 – Implementing Solution

(let’s do it!)

Solution in Place

6 – Evaluating Solution

(did it work?)

Testing Concerns
